Complete Description

This five-day workshop includes intensive work in three areas: Web Development & Authoring, Curriculum Design, and WebCT. In addition to learning everything you need to know to begin teaching with WebCT courseware, you'll learn many of the basics of web authoring such as common web editors, HTML, graphic manipulation and file management. With each technology, you'll explore the implications that technology might have for teaching and learning online and strategize how you can use these technologies and this courseware to achieve your desired teaching and learning outcomes. The week will include one on one consultation with a web development specialist and a curriculum design specialist. You will plenty of lab time to practice skills as you are learning them.

Outcomes:

At the end of this session participants will be able to:

• Manipulate the WebCT 3.0 environment well enough to begin designing an online course and actually teach online.
• Use knowledge of html to edit source code on html files generated by editors or other web developers.
• Use a common web editor to create your own content pages.
• Create graphics and format them so they are appropriate for web delivery.
• Analyze your own approach to teaching and learning and translate that approach to a WebCT online environment
• Take home a completed online course
