NWCET's E2E Institute to Host Microsoft Summer Information Technology
Institute for the American Association of Community College
Working Connections program (One week)
August 14 -18, 2000

     E2E-NWCET in partnership with Microsoft and the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) will provide IT training that will broaden the IT expertise and teaching skills of up to 50 faculty working in AACC's Working Connections colleges. The Microsoft Summer Institute curriculum will consist of training in 6 tracks in the areas of e-commerce, web development, network support, database development, and computer science transfer. The Microsoft Summer Institute will also feature focused discussion groups in topics of incorporating industry certification program into credit courses, performance assessment, and curriculum development. IT faculty will demonstrate best practices in IT teaching in their respective IT disciplines. The Microsoft Summer Institute concludes with industry focus groups including industry representatives from Microsoft, Boeing, and representatives from other leading IT companies. An outcome of the Microsoft Summer IT Institute is that each participant will revise an existing course or create a new one course back on their home campus. Participants will share their course development experience at Working Connections 2001 National Conference. The presentations will be videotaped for later editing and dissemination as a training product. New curriculum will made available via NWCET and AACC web sites.

Institute for Washington State Community and Technical College (one week)
August 21 - 25, 2000

    E2E-NWCET in partnership with Microsoft will provide IT training that will broaden the IT expertise and teaching skills of 99 faculty members from the 33 Washington State Community and Technical colleges. The Microsoft Summer Institute curriculum will consist of training in 6 tracks in the areas of e-commerce, web development, network support, database development, and computer science transfer. The Microsoft Summer Institute will also feature focused discussion groups in topics of incorporating industry certification program into credit courses, performance assessment, and curriculum development. IT faculty will demonstrate best practices in IT teaching in their respective IT disciplines. The Microsoft Summer Institute concludes with industry focus groups including industry representatives from Microsoft, Boeing, and representatives from other leading IT companies.
