Introduction to Information Technology
for the Non-IT Teacher (2 days)

Technology provides teachers and students with
powerful educational tools for the classroom.
After an overview and explanation of an Information Technology skill standards-based
curriculum, teachers develop multiple approaches and innovative strategies for
customizing their lessons to infuse technology and improve student learning
across disciplines. Throughout the two days, teachers participate in hands-on
use
of the Internet and PowerPoint while producing their own slide show to introducing
students to technology based instruction.
This class is designed for both proficient and timid computer users.
Using Multimedia to Improve Student Learning (3 days)

Multimedia is an exciting way to achieve multi-sensory learning in the classroom.
During this three-day class, teachers combine multimedia elements of graphics,
audio, and video to create a project in , media-rich learning environment. Numerous
interactive, hands-on activities allow teachers to create or acquire graphics
using scanners, digital cameras, and drawing software. In addition, teachers
discover ways to stimulate the creative process and enhance student learning
by recording and editing music and sound files as well as by incorporating video
in their multimedia projects.
Understanding Web Design
and Development (3 days)

Web pages are an effective way to support and classroom to multiple activities and enhance classroom instruction. In preparing to develop a web site that can be integrated into an existing curriculum, teachers are introduced to the concepts of web design and receive an overview of HTML. Upon completion of a basic, using Front Page (during the first two days), teachers have the opportunity during the last day of the class to improve their web pages by adding Flash animation.

Technology into Teaching, Lessons, and Learning (2 days)

Technology, teaching, lessons, and learning are components of the new education
that must be skillfully managed by teachers in the new millennium. In this two-day
class teachers discover ways to achieve the full integration and implementation
of technology in their classroom curriculum. Class activities will generate
ideas, examples, and new process planner for developing new course , for sharing
best practices with other teachers in technology use, for meeting the state
essential learning requirements, for integrating technology to maximize student
learning, and for sharing their accomplishments in a collaborative, interdisciplinary
framework.
Implementing Classroom
Lesson Plans, Projects,
and Activities Based Upon Skill Standards
Using the Internet and PowerPoint - 2 Days

This course is suited for classroom teachers, community college instructors in professional-technical disciplines and faculty in applied academics. In a collaborative learning environment you will learn how to develop and link lesson plans, classroom activities and projects to skill standards. Participants will learn the relationships between curriculum, lesson plans, skill standards, outcomes, activities, and assessments. Participants are encouraged to bring their own course materials for analysis and enhancement. In the second half of the course participants will design new classroom projects or enhance existing classroom projects using the technologies of the Internet and PowerPoint. You will walk away with new classroom projects, activities or lesson plans based upon skill standards to use back in your own classes and courses.
Understanding IT Careers for Teachers and
Counselors
(What R CyberCareers?) & Strategies for Focusing IT
Careers in Middle School and High School (1 day)

This course provides an understanding of different CyberCareers in a fun lively context for educators. The afternoon session explorer innovative methods for helping students learn about IT career pathways. This course actually empowers teachers/counselors to explorer freely with their students about the different IT pathways and careers in industry. This one-day seminar includes copy of NWCET's video CyberCareers with license to show. (Video will be shipped separately in the fall.)
