1) Exactly what is OSPI asking Business-IT teachers to certify in this year?
SPI is not asking anyone to be a MOUS master this year. SPI is requesting that business IT teachers complete these 3 MOUS Tests this year:
          1. MS Word 2000 Core
          2. MS Word 2000 Expert
          3. MS Excel 2000 Core

2) What is a MOUS Master Certification?
Master MOUS Master Certification is composed of the following MOUS Tests:
          1. MS Word 2000 Expert
          2. MS Excel 2000 Expert
          3. MS PowerPoint 2000
          4. MS Access 2000
          5. MS Outlook 2000

3) What do the OPSI/E2E IT training classes cover?
The classes that are being offered cover only MS Word 2000 Core, MS Word 2000 Expert 2000, and MS Excel 2000. NIVO International is the authorized contractor to Microsoft for the MOUS certification program. E2E negotiated with NIVO for two months to arrive at the resource package that comes with each class. The package from the industry providers includes resources that allow teachers to obtain a MOUS Master Certification if they so desire. See below for a full description of MOUS Resources and how they help instructors to achieve a MOUS Master designation.

4) Who are the MOUS instructors and are they MOUS certified?
All Instructors are secondary educators teaching in Washington State public schools who are MOUS certified in the MOUS tests of MS Word 2000 Core, MS Word 2000 Expert, and MS Excel 2000 Core. Classes are combination of instructor facilitated and guided lab.

5) Who may enroll in these classes?
Business-IT Pathways teachers, educators from other disciplines and school or district administrative staff may also enroll.

6) What is the difference between the one day and two day class? Can I take MOUS tests at the classes?
There are two types of classes that are being offered a one-day and a two-day class.

One Day Class is designed for the instructor who is experienced in the MS Office skills. The one day courses focuses on preparation for the taking the MOUS tests. It does not feature a skills development content. The one-day course also does not allow for time to actually take any of the Official MOUS tests. Participants in the one-day course will get an opportunity to assess their readiness for MOUS the three MOUS certifications. Participants in both one and two day courses receive the same MOUS Certification Package of resources.

Two Day Class is designed for two types of individuals: First, the educator/participant who needs more time in the classroom to work with an instructor in skill development in MS Word 2000 and MS Excel 2000. Second, the educator/staff member who may want to take their MOUS tests on the second day of the training. For the experienced instructors, they may be able to complete one or all of their tests during the training. On the two-day course, a MOUS testing lab will be open next the training room on the second day of the course. Participants in both one and two day courses receive the same MOUS Certification Package of resources.

7) What do I get with my MOUS training class registration?

Every educator/staff person taking the MOUS training receives:

8) Where do I take my MOUS tests at after the training?
When you register for your one or two day MOUS test preparation class, you will be asked what location you want to take your MOUS tests. Each school that is hosting MOUS training will also be an Official MOUS testing center. You will find testing lab days and times posted for each school that is hosting the MOUS program on the E2E website www.nwcet.org/e2e. You may take your MOUS test at any of the locations listed. MOUS testing sites for this program are located throughout the state for your convenience. When your register and select a MOUS test site to exams, you must then take all exams at that location.

9) How long do I have to take my MOUS tests?
Once you have taken your MOUS training program, you have six months to take up to five MOUS test as part your MOUS Educational Resource Package.

10) Can I just buy the MOUS Educational Resource Package without taking a MOUS training course?
Not at this time. The pricing of these resources is 20% of what you would pay if you were to purchase them separately outside this agreement. You must register for the class to receive the MOUS Educational Resource Package. Attendance to class is not mandatory though. The MOUS Educational Resource Package including your class has street value of over $1100. A one-day class with the MOUS Educational Resource Package is $200 per person. The two-day course with MOUS Educational Resource Package is $280 per person.

11) When are classes available?
Classes are currently available through the end of August throughout the State.

12) If I register later in the summer will be able to get a MOUS Educational Resource Package?
You may not. At this time only 1000 MOUS Educational Resource Packages are available. If you register for any class this summer before June 30, 2001, E2E IT Institute will guarantee you receive a MOUS Educational Resource Package valued at over $1100.

13) Where and when are courses available between now and the end of the summer?
A list of training dates and locations are located at the E2E IT Institute Website at www.nwcet.org/e2e.

14) How do I register my people for the MOUS Preparation Course and MOUS Resource Package?
You may register your people online at www.nwcet.org/e2e or by phone at 425-564-2263. Bellevue Community College is handling registrations for the E2E IT Institute. If you have 20 or more people, you may want to inquire about a special session just for your people by calling 425-564-4224.
