Skill Standards for Information Technology

IT skill standards are the result of the efforts of over 200 IT professionals and human resource experts, the professional associations of WSDMA and SIM, a regional educational consortium (RATEC), and NWCET.

A business/education committee of RATEC provided the work plan and organization for the project. A business advisory committee of IT professionals served as consultants, experts, and advisors to the RATEC committee. This cooperative effort between business and education established communication links and collaboration that will continue to facilitate the implementation of the skill standards. All participants were invested in a common goal: to improve the IT workforce by using skill standards to develop consistent IT curricula, degrees, articulation, and continuing education.
