Begin the process at the performance objective
level, that is, what the student will be able to
do after the learning. By entering the process
at this point and measuring what the student
is being asked to learn against the standards,
the relevance and/or need of the material can
easily be assessed.--Tom Crook

Task Management
Task Management was another core function that
emerged as necessary for all eight career clusters.
The elements necessary for effective task management
were perceived to be:
- Define the scope of work to achieve individual
and group goals
- Develop time and activity plan to achieve objectives
- Identify and obtain tools and resources to do the job
- Coordinate and implement work processes and procedures
- Monitor, analyze, and evaluate work processes and procedures
- Generate and maintain task status report
There was variation however, between career clusters
on the importance of task management to being a
successful worker in a given career area.
Curriculum Recommendation:
- All IT programs should incorporate outcomes and competencies that address task management.
- The amount of emphasis on task management will vary depending on the nature of the IT program.
- See appendix for sample core outcomes, key competencies, and performance indicators.
