The NorthWest Center for Emerging Technologies (NWCET)
is seeking a consultant for a part - time long term (two to three years initially)
assignment managing and supervising Information Technology curriculum adaptation
and implementation projects funded by NSF grants for the NWCET. The Project Director
/ Supervisor would work with recipients of NSF grants (normally community colleges
or educational consortia typically consisting of several community colleges, state
education departments, and industry groups) to ensure project milestones and reporting
dates are met.
The position may require occasional domestic travel,
although most coordination and follow up work will typically be done via e-mail
or telephone. The project director / supervisor will be responsible for providing
NWCET regular reports (in an existing format) and will be responsible for coordinating
all parties to make sure all reporting, fiscal, and performance milestones and
schedules are met. The position may require monitoring the performance of other
adjunct staff such as consultants or teachers, to ensure schedules are met.
Desired knowledge, skills, and attributes for the
Project Director / Supervisor:
* Excellent communication ability via e-mail and
telephone
* Knowledge of use of software to track project milestones
* Ability to coordinate activities of diverse groups at a distance
* Knowledge of basic reporting skills (simple budgets, performance narratives.
etc.)
* Knowledge of instructional processes in community colleges
* General knowledge of Information Technology careers and profession.
* Willingness to attend scheduled meeting in person or via telephone
Prior administrative experience in an educational
setting is preferred.
It is anticipated this position will require approximately
one - half day per week from June to September, 2000 and one to two days per
week thereafter
