Workforce Development The shortage of skilled IT workers continues to be a major concern to business and industry leaders across the country. NWCET works with business, educators and government to provide comprehensive solutions to IT workforce development issues. IT Skill Standards NWCET's landmark publication, Building a Foundation for Tomorrow: Skill Standards for Information Technology (developed in part with funding from the National Science Foundation), has achieved national recognition as the definitive source for describing information technology careers.
Expanding Diversity Digital Divide issues continue to be a major concern to policy makers and policy implementers. NWCET, with funding from the National Science Foundation, provides a strategic response to Digital Divide concerns with its CyberCareer Initiative that address the interest of middle- and early high-school students, teachers and counselors.
Public Policy NWCET is a key contributor to IT workforce development policy at local, state and national levels. NWCET Executive Staff are recognised national leaders frequently called upton to provide testimony, deliver presentations, and advise national panels on IT workforce issues. NWCET has recently co-authored a report published by the National Academy of Sciences that provides a comprehensive view of IT workforce issues.
